Photo Tour Mt. Hood/Portland Golf ProsBryce Finnman, PGA Head Professional
Bryce Finnman has been The Resort at The Mountain’s Head Golf Professional since 2005. Starting in the golf business in 1992, Bryce first worked in a private club in Rochester, NY and has since had the opportunity to work at facilities that have hosted US Opens, PGA Championships and Ryder Cups. To succeed in his chosen career, Bryce studied with and was mentored by the very best PGA professionals. In fact, his golfing mentors’ credentials represent 96 combined years in the business. Bryce oversees a staff of twenty five associates, responsible for catering to all guests’ golf service needs and activities. He is also responsible for golf retail, hosting corporate as well as friends and family golf tournaments, instruction and the daily operations of The Courses. A 2000 graduate of New Mexico State University, Bryce majored in Professional Golf Management with a minor in Marketing. Since relocating to the Northwest, he now enjoys all the Northwest offers. When away from The Courses, Bryce pursues fly-fishing, skiing the slopes of Mt Hood, hiking, touring the Oregon wineries, and spending time with his wife and their three dogs, appropriately named Bunker, Caddy, and Divot. Tony Lasher, Certified Golf Course Superintendent
Also since 1992, Tony Lasher has been The Courses Golf Course Superintendent. During those 15 years, Tony has played a pivotal role in the many changes and improvements both to The Courses and The Resort at The Mountain. Tony manages a department of twenty associates who maintains the golf course and The Resort’s grounds. Responsible for overseeing the major redesign and construction on The Courses, Tony has worked tirelessly to establish the best possible playing conditions for the course while enhancing its beauty and layout. Tony exhibits more than a bit of environmental activism! He has been very much involved professionally and personally with The Resort’s Wee Burn Stream Restoration Project, a stream rehabilitation effort on a tributary of the Wild & Scenic Salmon River that runs through the golf course. Since The Resort undertook the restoration effort in 1996, Tony has served as its project manager and has been actively involved in coordinating the restoration process. He has worked with the project partners, including the Mt. Hood National Forest Service, the Oregon & U.S. Departments of Fish & Wildlife, and the Oregon Governor’s Watershed Enhancement Board. He is also frequently found in the mud and water helping to place in-stream structures, build natural fish ladders, or doing other stream work to benefit the native wild steelhead and Coho salmon. Tony earned his degree in Horticulture/Turf Management from Oregon State University and is an active member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association. When he isn’t working on the course or Wee Burn project, Tony enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and two daughters. |
